Robert J. Matsunaga has been an accomplished artist and photographer yet he has always wished to expand into writing of fiction and illustration. Born in Hawaii, he graduated from Mckinely high school in Honolulu, then went on to Cal Arts (California Institute for the Arts) for a short time. After, he attended an art school in Japan for two years to learn Japanese traditional painting, Nihonga. Coming back to Hawaii, Robert went on to further schooling while at the same time doing works in the fine arts.

He has traveled to such places as Peru, Brazil and Argentina. Later he traveled to China. He hopes to get the chance to travel to Canada, Europe and India. Robert is interested in the history, cultures, architecture, art and clothing of other peoples in the world. It has led him to study these and many things as a hobby, which has benefited his work. This has, in turn, taken his interest in the direction of science fiction and fantasy. Astronomy has always been interesting to him and he keeps abreast of the latest findings in that field. He is also passionate about art history, which includes the art history of all the world’s civilizations.

He has gone back to school in San Francisco to take up 3D animation and other artistic subjects at the Academy of Art University. He has permanently resided in San Francisco, which he now calls his home.
